Year 2
Year 2 is taught by Mrs Riches and Mrs Bennett.
In our class, children are encouraged to develop independence and resilience. These important skills are woven into every lesson, helping pupils build on what they already know so they can approach new challenges with confidence and an enthusiasm for learning.
Each day includes a focus on spelling, English, and maths, alongside regular handwriting practice. Through our wider topic work, we also develop knowledge and creativity in Science, Geography, History, Art, Drama, Design & Technology, Computing and Music.
Our curriculum is enriched with exciting termly themes:
- Autumn Term – Growth and Survival
With a science focus, we learn about animals (including humans) and explore the basic needs required for growth and survival. - Spring Term – The Great Fire of London
We journey back to 1666 to study this significant event in history. Linking our learning across subjects, we investigate materials and their properties in science to understand why the houses of the time burned so easily. - Summer Term – Islands and Explorers
Our adventures take us around the world as we study famous explorers from history and discover more about the geographical features of our planet.
